There are many ways that Spatial Thinking is reflected in my life that I probably won't be able to name them all. Spatial thinking is such a natural way of thinking that you use without even thinking. I play the game Tetris a lot and I always use spatial thinking to put the pieces in the best space possible and get a tetris (four lines cleared at the same time). The spatial thinking helps me a lot because I can plan out where I am going to put each piece and get the best score. Spatial thinking also helps out a lot with geographical skills like giving directions. When I give directions, I try to make sure to have the cardinal directions included so if the person gets lost (hopefully not), they know what direction to head in. There are also simple ways that spatial thinking come into play. For example, when I work on the sudoku puzzle in the newspaper. I try to plan ahead what numbers I know and don't know yet in a way that I am finding numbers close to the one I just found. I guess you can't get away from spatial thinking if you want to because our minds do it almost automatically.
After reading the article on spatial thinking, I was able to think about a lot of different ways that we use spatial thinking every single day. Spatial thinking is basically when you think about something in a way to accomplish whatever you are trying to do. For instance, when you drive you are using spatial thinking. You follow the traffic signs every time when you are behind the wheels. That's spatial thinking, because you are doing something that's necessary to accomplish your goal which is in this case to reach your destination. There are millions of examples that requires spatial thinking. It's basically part of everything we do from waking up in the morning to going to bed at night. Everyone has the potential to think spatially in any situations they could possibly face.
In day to day life, I tend to take the way the universe is organized for granted. Everyone uses spatial thinking. The article on spatial thinking made me think about things that I normally don't think about. There is not a single profession that doesn't require some sort of spatial thinking. A radio host uses spatial thinking to time their broadcast statements. A surgeon must think spatially in order to operate on the human body. Some people must be more aware of their spatial thinking than others, but no one can live without it.
The author's views on Spatial Thinking are reflected in my life mainly by guiding me through the day without harm. I had not realized until after reading the article that the way things are organized and put together so "perfectly" is because of spatial thinking. I did not even really understand what spatial thinking was until after reading the article but that's beside the point. I use spatial thinking just like the author said and gave an example about reading a map and understanding where they are going. When I teach tennis during the summer I have to place the ball where a child will be able to hit it according to their skill level. When I go running I have to be aware of what's around me otherwise I could easily get hit by another person, bike, car, deer. One time luckily I was paying attention to my surroundings because otherwise I would have stepped on a squirrel! So spatial thinking is a big part of my life, and everyone else's for that matter.
I see the views reflective on my life in the ways of just how I use my own spatial thinking. Such as, how I think about my space in any situation I am in. I talked a lot about playing sports and things to do with around school areas. Before reading the article I never really thought about spatial thinking in such ways. I have never even used that term before. So, this is all pretty new to me and I'm sure to others as well. I guess now I will know more about all of my surroundings and have the knowledge about how to work my way through them.
The article really helped me to think a lot deeper about spatial thinking than I had been capable of before reading it. It just puts the concept of spatial thinking perfectly into words. It made me realize that almost everything I have difficulties putting into perspective is because they have nothing to be compared to. In other words they are hard or at some times impossible to be spatialized, at least for that moment. Until you can spatialize an idea you cannot fully grasp it.
The Author's views on spatial Thinking are reflected in my life by having the ability to be able to react to a situation such as driving, or playing basketball, baseball, golf. I also use it when i have the ability to understand what a map in trying to convey.
I use spatial thinking everyday in my life. The artical made me relize how offten spatial thinking is actually used. The author said that every type of science uses spatial thinking, and there are many diffrent types of science. The author also talked about how much we don't know about spatial thinking. I feel like I still have a lot to learn about spatial thinking.
